Welcome to the Route 40 Classic Basketball Tournament

Boys & Girls High School Basketball Extravanganza
January 19 - 21,2013

This is the inaugural year of the Route 40 Classic. The Classic is the brainchild of West Muskingum Tornado varsity boys basketball Coach Bill Crane

Funds raised by the Classic will go to help fund the boys and girls basketball programs as well as to reduce the pay-to-participate costs for all student-athletes at West Muskingum.

A slate of 18 varsity and 18 junior varsity games will be played at the Classic with varsity games to be played at West Muskingum High School and the junior varsity games to be played at Falls Elementary. The West Muskingum School campus is located on Kimes Road just off of State Route 40 about 4 miles west of Zanesville, Ohio in Muskingum County.

Included in the inaugural Route 40 Classic field are 7 teams that were ranked in the final 2012 Associated Press poll: Warren Local (Boys DII), Bloom-Carroll (Boys DIII), Rosecrans (Boys DIV), Newark Catholic (Boys DIV), Olentangy Orange (Girls DI), Fort Frye (Girls DIII), & Rosecrans (Girls DIV).

There are 6 regional qualifiers from the 2012 Ohio State tournament included in the field: Columbus DeSales (Girls DII), Marietta (Girls DII), Warren Local (Girls DII), Fort Frye (Girls DIII), Newark Girls (Girls DIV) & Newark Catholic (Boys DIV).

Detroit Westside Christian Academy was a Class D regional finalist in Michigan last year.
